QDC announces first ever Employee of the Month

Quonset Employee of the Month Template

Congratulations to the Quonset Development Corporation’s very first Employee of the Month – Eric Perreault! Eric serves as Pier Master at the Port of Davisville, where he carries out the safety and security protocols required by the U.S. Coast Guard.

Last month, when a line handler fell from Pier 1 into 40-degree water, Eric sprang into action. He retrieved a life ring and threw it down to the worker, providing buoyant support until the worker was safely guided onto a boat and treated by North Kingstown EMS.

“Eric stayed calm, used his training, and ensured that the rescue was completed quickly and safely,” said Steven J. King, P.E., managing director of the QDC. Perreault’s heroic quick thinking was publicly recognized recently by the QDC Board of Directors.

Since 1941, the Port of Davisville's Pier 1 has been supported by 1,500 wooden pilings. More than 80 years later, we're replacing them with new steel pilings, adding decades to the pier's service life and supporting increased port activity.

We're excited to be partnering with Moran Properties to bring 140 new apartments to Quonset, helping employers attract and retain the talent they need and making it easier for Rhode Islanders to live closer to their jobs.
