Pier 1 South is open for business

Quonset Pier

As 2024 comes to a close, we are pleased to celebrate another successful year at the Quonset Business Park. Recently, we cut the ribbon to reopen the Port of Davisville’s Pier 1 South Face after 19 months of construction.

The project replaced more than 1,500 wooden pilings that had been supporting the pier in Narragansett Bay since 1941 with 150 new steel pilings and a new concrete deck.

The Port of Davisville is one of North America’s Top 10 auto importers and a key hub for the offshore wind industry in the North Atlantic. The renovated Pier 1 will allow Quonset to meet rising demand for both automobile imports and offshore wind cargo and support offshore wind vessel traffic.

With the South Face of the pier fully refurbished, construction has begun on the North and East Faces. The next phase of the project is expected to be completed by Winter 2025, and the final phase is expected by Summer 2026.

Construction of the Pier 1 project is being completed by the J.F. Brennan Company. To see the progress we’ve made together so far, you can view the company’s video diary of the work being done at the Port of Davisville.
