Perfect compliance record earns Quonset Wastewater Treatment Facility high honors

Quonset’s Wastewater Treatment Facility (WWTF) took home Rhode Island Clean Water Association’s (RICWA) highest honor. WWTF received the RICWA Platinum Award for a consistent record of 100% permit compliance for three consecutive years.

“This honor is a testament to the entire wastewater team and their unwavering commitment to protecting the environment,” said QDC Managing Director Steven J. King, P.E.

RICWA also awarded two individual Quonset team members. Martha Fuller received the Facility Support Excellence Award for her personal contributions to excellence in plant operations. Martha is the backbone of the facility’s everyday operations. She is the first point of contact for the Business Park’s 229 companies when they have questions about Quonset’s public infrastructure. A creative problem solver, Martha is determined to overcome any obstacle in her path.

Joe Chapdelaine received the Robert J. Markelewicz Award for his outstanding contributions to wastewater treatment systems maintenance. Joe serves as the team’s only mechanic and responds to all after-hours alarms. He keeps the facility running at top efficiency while minimizing operational costs. His depth of knowledge is invaluable to Quonset’s efforts to protect Narragansett Bay.

Congratulations to Martha, Joe and the entire wastewater team!
